What is stretch mark camouflage?

At Healing Touch, we proudly offer cutting-edge solutions for addressing stretch marks, scars, and other skin imperfections with our specialized camouflage treatments. Our camouflage procedure involves expert micropigmentation, precisely matched to your skin tone. Using a specialized tattoo machine and carefully selected pigments, we effectively blend scars and stretch marks with your natural skin, making them less noticeable. Beyond traditional pigmentation, our techniques include Inkless Camouflage, an advanced microneedling method aimed at stimulating collagen production in affected areas. This not only improves skin texture but also reduces the appearance of stretch marks without adding colored pigments, providing a non-invasive option for enhancing your skin's appearance. Schedule your consultation today at our North Vancouver clinic, where state-of-the-art treatments meet a warm, welcoming environment, ensuring you receive exceptional care and results.

What Kind of Stretch Marks and Scars Can It Treat?

To be eligible for treatment at Healing Touch, scars or stretch marks should be lighter than your overall skin tone and not raised. They need to be fully healed, typically aged 2 years or more. If the marks are still red, this indicates ongoing healing, and Inkless Camouflage (advanced microneedling) sessions may be necessary before any pigment insertion. Depending on individual needs, 2-3 Inkless Camouflage sessions might be recommended prior to pigment application.

Our scar and stretch mark camouflage treatment is ideal for those who prefer non-permanent solutions or have religious considerations. Unlike traditional tattoos, our technique involves using specially designed pigments or stimulating collagen to create the appearance of natural, even skin tone.

Real Results

It's important to understand that the final color of the camouflage treatment will not match the initial color immediately after application. This is because the color changes as the skin heals. Pigments need time to settle into their final appearance. The complete healing process, and thus the final results, can be seen after 28-42 days.

  • What if I get tan?
One of the most common questions is what happens with the camouflage when you tan. Your skin tans, but the camouflage doesn't. Before treatment, the contrast between your skin tone and stretch marks is significant. After camouflaging your marks, the tone evens out, making stretch marks almost invisible. Comparing a picture where you are tanned with white stretch marks to one where the stretch marks are camouflaged, you will see that the contrast is much less visible.
  • Why not laser?
While laser treatments are popular for addressing various skin concerns, they are not always the best option for everyone. Laser treatments can cause skin irritation, redness, and sometimes even burns, especially on sensitive skin. Additionally, lasers are not always effective on certain types of scars or stretch marks, and the recovery time can be longer. Laser treatments are also more expensive and often require several sessions before seeing results. In contrast, camouflage treatments offer immediate results after just one session and are less invasive, with minimal downtime.
  • What is the Difference Between Camouflage and Tattoo?
Camouflage treatments are less painful compared to traditional tattoos. They utilize ink with tiny particles and mineral pigments, resulting in quicker fading and a natural look with a watercolor effect that offers good coverage performance. In contrast, tattoos involve a scraping method and use ink with large particles and heavy pigments, creating a long-lasting but harsh look. There is also a risk of exacerbating stretch marks and scars with tattoos.
  • Does it hurt?
Some clients experience minor discomfort during the procedure, often described as a gentle, scratchy sensation similar to microneedling. We advise against using numbing creams, as they might interfere with the pigments. If needed, you can take paracetamol before the treatment, but avoid aspirin because it can thin the blood and increase the risk of clotting at the treatment site.
  • Is it Suitable for All Skin Types?
Absolutely. We cater to Fitzpatrick skin types 1-6. However, achieving a color match can be more challenging for very pale skin. Individuals prone to keloid scarring may not be ideal candidates. For darker skin types or those with a tendency for hyperpigmentation, there is a risk of prolonged darkness after healing.
  • How Long Do the Results Last?
Our stretch mark camouflage treatment is considered permanent. However, due to pigment dilution for skin tone matching, results typically last 3-7 years on average. The rate of pigment fading varies based on individual factors such as immune system, sun exposure, aftercare adherence, and overall healing.
